Cultivating Speed

DESCRIPTION

Grades: 5th – 6th Grade
Duration: 45 minute virtual experience followed by a 50 - 90 minute lesson plan

Hosted by the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, Cultivating Speed is a virtual program designed to teach students in grades 5-6 how agriculture and motorsport racing are intertwined.

Students will learn about some of the deep traditions tied to the Indianapolis 500 and their connections to agriculture like why the winner drinks milk. See how agriculture is pushing for innovations in tires and fuel not only for the race cars but also the haulers that get the cars from track to track. Hear from experts in the field and drivers on this unique tie between two of Indiana’s proudest traditions.
